๐ DAILY BIAS: BEARISH
Gold broke hard through $4,262 support and is printing lower highs and lower lows on every timeframe. Price is trading below the 50-day SMA, VWAP, and SMA20. all sloping down. Favor sells on any bounce into the $4,165 - $4,200 zone. Don't fight this structure.
๐ฅ BREAKOUT / PULLBACK SCENARIOS
- Bearish Case (Preferred): Rejection at $4,165 - $4,200 confirms the dead-cat bounce structure. Sell the rally with a target at $4,111 first, then $4,040 on a confirmed daily close below $4,111.
- Bullish Invalidation: A daily close back above $4,250 shifts short-term attention to $4,313 and $4,367. That scenario requires a soft PCE print Wednesday. not the base case.
๐ฐ WHAT'S MOVING GOLD
Trump rejected Iran's 7-day proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, sending Brent above $107 and reigniting inflation fears across markets. CME FedWatch puts October rate-hike odds at 70.3%, up sharply from 64.2% Friday. The 10-year Treasury yield is back above 5.2% and the 30-year topped 5.3%. both near 19-year highs, slamming the opportunity cost for holding non-yielding gold. DXY is on track for its strongest monthly gain since June, and that dollar bid isn't breaking until the data does.
โ ๏ธ HIGH-IMPACT EVENT
Core PCE and Final GDP both print Wednesday, September 30 at 8:30 AM ET. This is the Fed's preferred inflation gauge. a hot PCE reading locks in the October hike and gold tests $4,040 fast. A soft print is the only near-term lifeline for bulls, but with Brent above $107, the inflation read is a coin flip at best.
