๐ฏ KEY LEVELS
๐ด Resistance: $4,172
๐ข Support: $4,033
๐ DAILY BIAS: NEUTRAL
Gold spent six consecutive weeks trapped in a tight consolidation range straddling the $4,074-$4,112 pivot zone and today's session tested the top of that band. Price reclaimed the $4,077 area on safe-haven demand but failed to close above $4,106 resistance. bulls need a clean daily close above $4,172 to break the intermediate downtrend. Treat intraday rallies as corrective until that level cracks.
๐ฅ BREAKOUT / PULLBACK SCENARIOS
- Bearish Case (Preferred): Rejection at $4,106-$4,112 with a fade back below $4,060 targets $4,033 fast. Lose $4,033 and $4,008 opens next. Favor sells on any failed retest of $4,106 with stops above $4,123.
- Bullish Invalidation: Daily close above $4,172 shifts bias bullish. That clears the way toward $4,244 and puts $4,312 back on the table. Bulls need a confirmed hold above $4,172. not just a wick.
๐ฐ WHAT'S MOVING GOLD
Trump gave Iran a hard deadline on the Strait of Hormuz. his words were "last chance before decapitation". and safe-haven demand spiked gold to session highs. DXY weakness at seven-week lows near 99.97 is giving bulls a tailwind, but three FOMC dissenters pushed for a July rate hike and September hike odds sit at 65%, which caps upside. The 30-Year Treasury yield near 5.275% is the structural ceiling for any sustained gold breakout. bonds won't let this rally run free.
โ ๏ธ HIGH-IMPACT EVENT
NFP drops Friday, August 7. Consensus sits at 100,000-130,000 jobs after June's dismal 57,000 print. Hot print above 150,000 with wages firm = September hike repriced higher, dollar rips, gold gets crushed back below $4,033. Soft print below 80,000 = rate cut bets return, DXY breaks 99.50, and gold targets $4,172 in a straight line.
