๐ฏ KEY LEVELS
๐ด Resistance: $4,403
๐ข Support: $4,344
๐ DAILY BIAS: BULLISH
Price bounced hard off the $4,311 intraday low and closed near session highs, reclaiming the bulk of the day's range. The 100-day SMA at $4,386 is the only real overhead obstacle left. price is fighting it right now. RSI on the daily is around 62 with MACD in positive territory, so bulls still own the momentum picture. Favor dip buys on pullbacks toward $4,344 and treat any rally through $4,403 as a breakout trigger.
๐ฅ BREAKOUT / PULLBACK SCENARIOS
- Bearish Case (Preferred on Rallies): Rejection at $4,386-$4,403 opens a flush back toward $4,344. Lose $4,344 on a daily close and $4,311 comes back into play fast. Shorts on a clean rejection candle at the resistance zone with stops above $4,420.
- Bullish Invalidation: A sustained daily close above $4,403 flips the script. That opens the Bollinger upper band at $4,455 as the next measured target, with $4,460-$4,470 as the macro expansion zone beyond that.
๐ฐ WHAT'S MOVING GOLD
Soft CPI on Wednesday and flat PPI on Thursday stripped the Fed hawks of their ammunition, sending September rate-hike odds from 58% down to 30.6%. DXY is trapped below its 100.605 moving average with RSI at 41. momentum is against the dollar and that's direct jet fuel for gold. Central bank accumulation continues to provide a structural bid under price, with roughly 310 tons added in the six-week window through early August. Geopolitical risk from the Middle East remains in the background, keeping the safe-haven premium alive and limiting any aggressive gold selloffs.
โ ๏ธ HIGH-IMPACT EVENT
FOMC minutes from the July 28-29 meeting publish August 19. That meeting was a 9-3 vote with three same-direction hawkish dissents. the first split of that magnitude since 2016. A hawkish read of those minutes puts the rate-hike narrative back on the table and hits gold hard. A neutral-to-dovish tone cements the no-hike bet and sends gold through $4,403. This is the next binary event for this market.
